This little sterling silver taonga puoro (musical instrument) is my version of a porotiti, a spinning disc with a cord threaded through its two holes. The disc is activated by first spinning and then drawing and relaxing the cord. As the disc spins it produces a gentle humming sound.
Dimensions
4.5 ×2.2 cms. (approximately)
Materials
Sterling silver
Care instructions
Avoid contact with chemicals (such as perfumes)
Wipe gently with a damp cloth if cleaning is required
Over time the action of using the porotiti will eventually weaken the cord. Examine the cord regularly for possible fraying, when replace as required. I have included a second replacement cord, but any strong reasonably thin cord will do the trick. I like a 120cm length of cord.
